2009 Calendar: May 4th to 10th

May 4th to 7th: Prompt: analogous colors (adjoining colors on the color wheel). Kicking off with a print of one of my Mission photos. May 8th to 10th: Lots of pockets and tags and inserts here. I've had these playing cards for quite a while - will use them for journaling on the back.

09 Calendar ... Kickin' Off May!

May 1st - 3rd Prompt for this was to choose a word, use it on the page, then journal about what it means to me. My word is Alchemy ... that word just transfixes me, tickles & tempts me ... the odd newsprint images came from a piece of old dictionary Patty sent me, and work perfectly for me here! I'm pretty psyched to write ... hard to wait until tomorrow!

09 Calendar ... already 1/4 done

April 27th-30th: Background. The flap on the right side lifts for journaling, of course! April 24th - 26th, completed layout. Haven't posted a finished layout in a while.

2009 Calendar: April 20th - 26th

April 20th to 23rd, Prompt: In the Old Days ... I was supposed to finish that sentence -- found the typewriter image, then got distracted. Anh, shite happens. My embossing gun left me, after 2½ years (not a bad run, considering the abuse I gave it!) so I had to dash out for a new one. April 24th - 26th: Background only, no prompt except my mood. The pianist is, of course, My Lovely Mother!

2009 Calendar: April 13th - 19th

April 13th - 16th. No prompt here -- just my delight in confirming My Lovely Mother and I are going to England. And a nod to Susan Boyle, the Scottish songbird who shocked everyone out of their complacent, sneering stereotypes on the British version of Idol. April 17th-19th (background): prompt here was 'what kind of tree are you and why?' I am an aspen. I think if you click on the picture, it will enlarge enough for you to read the journaling spot that says why. I wanted to post this before writing all over it, so the aspen background would still be really visible. I used some photos copied on a toner copier, then a Copic blender pen, to transfer these images. The handcarved swallow stamp on the bottom and the woman image on the top left I clear-embossed, then chalked over (thanks, Carla!)

2009 Calendar: April 3-12th (catch-up!)

April 3rd to 5th, prompt: What is my favorite childhood story? My favorite has always been The Velveteen Rabbit. April 6th to 9th, prompt: What is my spiritual sense of place? Wings, Words, Nature, Ocean, The Universe. April 10th to 12th, prompt used was the colors silver, lilac and cream. Kind of ended up messy and undefined but I still FEEL it.

2009 Calendar: March 30th to April 2nd

Prompt: Sweet Corn. The husks open for journaling within, and some of the kernals on the 'ear' of corn also lift for secrets!

2009 Calendar: March 27th to 29th

No prompt here, either, but had a 'summer on the rowhouse front stoop' feeling, thanks to having read two of Holly's posts, here and here.

2009 Calendar: March 23rd to 26th

I'm finding the only way to stay with my calendar is to do an entire layout at once, and then do the writing for each day. The 'beautiful do' was one of the photos I took to the salon with me, to show how I wanted the perm to look. And it will, once the tightness of the 'new' curls relaxes a bit. Right now I'm still a mite poodle-esque!

Good Day, Sunshine!

It's a new, & wonderful, day in the neighborhood ... 2 hours of non-stop journal background creation last night (soon to be posted), followed by 2 hours of self-deejayed dance mania in my studio, 4 Bud Lights down the hatch over that entire duration of time, a long hot shower, & a strong deep sleep.

I'm BAAAACK!!! I caught everyone's karma & hugs (& alcoholic offerings!) & played all musical requests/suggestions when I boogied! I can't say YOU would've laughed, watching me dance, because as it happens I'm pretty fierce when it comes to shaking my groove thing. But I laughed, & Zoe laughed, I grinned, blew kisses, signed imaginary autographs, gave soundbite interviews, waved to fans and the TV cameras ... no, not really. I just danced and danced & sipped my beer & put on the next jam and danced and grinned. Good therapy!! Especially after all of YOU, sharing the love. Yesterday was a bad one, so I really appreciate it! March 16th to 19th: Prompt was to use a stencil ... so I did some various leaves, then stayed with that theme 'new leaves' ... that photo of me (age 24) is one of my favorites because it looks, it actually LOOKS, like I have boobage. March 20th to 22nd: Page layout finished and ready for journaling - I've got a lot on my plate this weekend, so wanted to get ahead on the background. The little figures were drawn for me by my young friend, Florencia (my love, Ciera's BFF, at least when they're together) -- they set the tone for this entire layout - no prompt used here. Note: I covered this page in 2 layers of black acrylic, THEN I laid down the metallic green/blue color. Lesson learned: that metallic 'Halo' paint by Jacquard/Lumiere changes personality depending on the color it's laid over. I smell further experimentation forthcoming in Toni's Art Lab ...

2009 Calendar: March 9th through March 13th (double spread)

This week's calendar prompt is the colors aqua, tangerine, berry & black. FIERCE! Love them all, love them all -- together! And look what came in the mail! My inspiration photo, for a certainty! But I knew I needed a double spread -- my first calendar centerfold -- ooh! A conservatory floor (that's what I call this black & white harlequin pattern). I want this in my studio. The cabinet and window photos flip up for journaling beneath. What a blast! On this page, the rug, and the toile corner (upper right) are tags that lift for journaling. I still really want to find a picture of a cat to put on the sofa with the young lady. I know she's too small, really, by way of scale -- scale, shmale, let's just pretend it's one of those huge, comfy, get-lost-in-it sofas, with room for naps for the woman, the dog(s) and the cat(s). Oh yea!

2009 Calendar: March 6th thru 8th

Prompt: 'use stitching on the page'. I don't sew, so instead I used pattern paper, and a new set of rubber stamps called 'Messy Stitches'. But I like this layout a lot!

2009 Calendar: March 2nd to 5th

My boss is -- uh, er, um -- challenging, in more ways than I can count or care to describe. This layout is absolutely about the last 2 days of last week, and all of this week, and the dynamic at work. Off to the side is a photo of Marquis Cooper, because his predicament was a much-needed reality check for me in the midst of my annoyed Pity Party.

The prompt was 'make a paper doll'. Well -- uh, er, um -- I'm just not a paper doll kinda woman, never was. I mean, I used my Barbie dolls as victims of Tonka Truck rollovers and full-sized G.I. JOE bombings -- so you can see my struggle. But I did what I could -- I found a cool photo that would make an even cooler paper doll if I had the slightest of paper doll skills, and began with her on the spread.
